Today im reviewing a new product that I have been
using for the past one month that some claim to be magical. Im talking about
the oh-so-popular Bio Oil that has found huge fans in the celebrity circle.
Celebrities like the flawless Kim Kardashian, ex-Spice Girl Mel-B, actress
Alison King to name a few have raved about it and swear by it to banish stretch
marks and other skin imperfections. Pregnant women all over the world have
found a new BFF in Bio Oil to prevent and erase stretch marks.
Is it really that magical or is it just over-hyped?
Read on for my experience on the Bio-Oil.
Packaging (Rs.450/- for 6ml )
Boi Oil comes in this cute sturdy transparent bottle
with a white cap. I like the fact that the jar is transparent as it is easier
for you to know that you are running out of the product and need to restock
soon. It is travel-friendly as you can pop the bottle in your travel kit and I promise
it will not spill.
Ingredients
Here is snapshot of the ingredients listed on the
carton of the bottle.
Product
Bio Oil is orange-ish pink oil with a thin
consistency. It contains PurCellin Oil which apparently makes the oil easily
absorbable by the skin which in turn ensures that the goodness contained in the
vitamins and plant extracts reaches the skin.
I would have to agree with the PurCellin Oil claim
because as I rubbed the oil on my affected areas, it was quickly absorbed by
the skin within a minute or two leaving behind dewy and hydrated skin.
It does have fragrance but not one that irritates
you or gives you a headache. It infact has a pleasant smell and I quite like
it. However, people who are absolutely intolerant to any type of fragrance be
warned because it lingers on you for quite sometime and I also noticed that my
bed-cover were also smelling of the oil the next day.
Effectiveness
This is my second bottle of the Bio Oil and I did
see some wonderful results. I have a 2-inch long scar on my left lower leg due
to a freak accident (..due to my clumsiness) 6 years ago. I hate it and I always
wanted to get rid of it. Since I started using Bio Oil on the scar every night,
it has started fading dramatically and now the scar is very faint and hardly
noticeable. I wish I had taken before and after pictures but then at the time I
started using it I really didn’t have much hopes from it… nevertheless I thought I’d give it a try and
it worked.
Stretch marks are a different story though. I haven’t
noticed much of a difference in the appearance of my stretch marks. But then it
is said that at least 3 months of regular use is a must to see a difference. Also
my stretch marks are very very old around 10-12 years old so obviously I cannot
undo it over a month.
It is said that Bio Oil can be use on the face too but I’m not quite sure about it. I tried it and my face
immediately broke out the next day so I stopped. My skin is already oily so I
guess it couldn’t handle anymore oil. Bummer!! Because I was hoping I would
wake up all glowy and dewy the next morning…. Sorry didn’t happen.
Final Verdict
I personally love Bio Oil and will continue to use
it until I erase my stretch marks. There has been a lot of speculation on the
the formulation of Bio Oil with some people calling it no better than baby oil.
Well, I don’t care whether its baby oil or not, if it works on me, il use it. I
also feel that the secret to the effectiveness lie in the PurCellin Oil formula
because of which the goodness of the oil is actually delivered to the skin
rather than just lying on top of the skin.
Oh that's really beautiful!! I will try for my mom soon dear :)
ReplyDeleteHey Gowthami, do try it on your mom and let me know her feedback. :)
DeleteTiene muy buena pinta.
ReplyDeleteBesos
muchas gracias!! :)
DeleteI have a big issue with stretch marks and I guess its worth a try! Though I'm really impatient and uding it for 3 years to see a difference makes me cringe but nevertheless I guess its feasible as compared to going under the laser and stuff!
ReplyDeleteNice review.. I will defo give it a try for my scars!
xx
Thank you T!! Stretch marks and cellulite are 2 things i detest but sadly im infested with both :'(
DeleteThe Bio Oil leaflet reads that it must be used for at least 3 months to see visible results for stretch marks and i guess its worth a try. 3 months (i think you read 3 years by mistake) is still doable i think because even im one impatient person and hate waiting for ages to see results. Give it a shot and let me know your feedback!!
I'll definitely give it a try dear ! thanks for sharing such a wonderful post .. I never knew so many benefits about Bio oil

DeleteI use bio oil on my stretch marks and I love this product so much,...
ReplyDeleteI love it too Rachna. Isn't it a great product!! :)
DeleteI use bio oil only on my face for about ten years now, every evening and morning after washing my face. Immediately after I put a few drops of oil. It feels great and my skin feels dry (not oily) and very healthy. I have less wrinkles then most women my age, I am 46. If I put oil on my face when is fully dry it doesn't feel good,so I only put it right after I washed and dried and the skin is still a bit dewy. I swear by Bio oil, it is the only face cream I could use in my life, all creams I tried before made my skin feel sticky or oily, or I broke out. I showed it to my mom, she started using it,and it is the only cream she uses now too. I recommend it.
