iHerb Haul- Real Technique + more ( Indian Customs-Rant!!!)

I always squeal with joy when a package arrives at my doorstep. I get some sort of an adrenaline rush because despite the fact that numerous packages of mine have been lost by the postal services, i remain obnoxious and continue shopping online.
I received my recent order from iHerb.com and i was more than thrilled.... however, my thrill lasted only a few seconds when the delivery guy handed me a hefty custom duty receipt. When i saw the bill i was literally like "No f******* way!!"
The total value of my package was Rs.4600/- ($73.10) and the custom duty charged was Rs.3000/- ($47). Now isn't that preposterous?? That is almost like  61% of duty charged. I think its crazy and i was so angry i could have punched the delivery guy.... but then it was not his fault and i had no other way than to hand over the cash and collect my stuff. So what had actually been a haul of Rs.4600/- ($73) ended up costing me Rs.7600/- ($120)....arghhhh!!!

When i opened my box, my anger some what dissipated after looking at the products. I had waited several months for this haul because some of the products were out-of-stock and i had to wait and wait for iHerb to restock. Here is what i purchased.

First up, i present to you the Real Technique Miracle Complexion Sponge. I am most excited about this baby here. I know how the Beauty Blender sponge has taken the blogging world by storm but some how, deep down, i just could not justify spending around Rs.1800/- ($29) on a piece of sponge. Real Techniques heard my prayers and came to my rescue and this has got to be the best dupe ever. I hear that it is as good as the Beauty Blender at one-fourth the price. Don't we all just love Real Technique?!

Then i got myself the Real Technique Powder Brush. Now that summer is officially ending where i live, i needed a giant powder brush to..... well powder my face to kill the shine (thinking of summer and what it does to my skin is already making me cringe!!)

Next i bought the Real Technique Stippling Brush to apply highlighters. Im naturally a heavy handed person and many times i have ended up using too much of it and ending up looking like a grease ball rather than glowy. So I'm hoping this will be perfect for me for applying highlighters.

Next up, i bought the Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum. One of my resolutions for 2014 is to take better care of my skin that i have been abusing for the past many years. I forget to drink adequate amounts of water, i miss out on monthly clean-ups and i sometimes sleep with my make-up on so the least that i could do for my skin was to take better care of it.

Last but not the least i bought Earth Science Active Age Defense Alpha/Beta Hydroxy Acid Night Rejuvinator (pheww.... thats a pretty long name) I have oily and acne prone skin and i am hoping that the alpha/beta acid chemically exfoliate my skin and clean my pores and i don't have frequent break-outs. Fingers crossed!!

Im pretty happy with my haul and i can't wait to use the products and do individual reviews. iHerb is such a wonderful site and i can never get tired of going through the wonderful and unique products they stock.

  7. The Indian customs dept site which describes for cosmetics its around 10% of the product value, and for any other supplements or vitamins its around 30% to 150%.

Yes, its a rip off , but if we need those particular products from iHerb or any other e-com sites, we may need to pay teh extra customs duty, over the actual duty DHL r USPS may add their own charges, ending upto coming to a BIG amount till we hate iHerb.

  13. i dont understand why would someone waste that much money on useless cosmetic products. You could have used that money to help a needy one or could enjoyed a whole weekend on a hill station. Beauty is not from outside but inside.
